You're probably wondering what the big deal is about this bug. So the lighting looks different--so what? Well, the problem, like I said, is that the room is also behaving like it's outdoors. What that means is that whenever your sims are in this room, they'll be exposed to the elements. They'll experience the weather, feel hot and cold, get tanned, freeze, etc.
I guess if you had a twisted sense of humor, you could leave the bug in for comic effect (it is kind of funny watching sims get soaked in the rain even though they're sleeping in bed). However, if you don't have that kind of humor or are creating this lot for other players to download, you most likely want to get this bug fixed.
So how can you fix it? There are several ways:
- Use the hand tool in Build Mode to click on one of the walls. This method usually works most of the time. If it doesn't work for you, then--
- Use the hand tool to drag a wall back and forth. Or--
- Delete and rebuild one of the walls.
99% of the time, just clicking on the wall will work. You'll know the wall is back to normal when the lighting switches from outdoor to indoor again. However, just to make sure, toggle to night time to double check that the room is now good. (To toggle, click the little yin/yang symbol at the bottom of your screen.)
In case you're still hazy about all this, below is a series of screenshots showing a hallway that is suffering from this bug, and what I did to fix it.
Hallway outside apartment is bugged. Notice the sunlight flooding it. |
I remove one piece of the wall and replace it. |
Now the hallway has indoor lighting |
